A week in Provence

From September through to May, Laurence and Michael Altman welcome groups of 2 to 6 people to stay at the "Mas de L'hermitage" in the heart of the Var countryside.

Guests stay in a selection of accommodation with en-suite facilities at the Mas (large provençal style house), which overlooks Côtes de Provence vineyards, olive groves and the beautiful Esterel Mountains.
With Michael, a food and wine expert (25 years in the catering industry) and Laurence, his French wife an antiques and art specialist, you will enjoy a week of culinary and cultural heaven.

Some mornings or afternoons are spent visiting the colourful local markets selecting ingredients for the evening meals or visiting nearby historical/cultural sites; there are also visits to local wineries, olive oil mills and fromageries.
Michael's informal cooking classes are based on local ingredients from the market and most dishes will be savoured at dinner that evening. He will add his knowledge of world cuisine to traditional provençal recipes to create sumptuous dishes, a true delight for the eyes and the tastebuds. Breakfasts and dinners take place at the refectory style table adjacent to the kitchen or weather permitting outside on the terrace.

Either way you will find yourselves sharing a friendly personal and informal experience "façon provençale".
Every effort is made to accommodate our guests varied needs, tastes and interests, so we are always at hand to give helpful advice and pointers in the hope that they enjoy visiting Provence as much as we love living here.
